Mental Health psychology has nuances. Part 2

Are you interested in the connection between physical well-being, nutrition and emotional well-being?

The connection between physical well-being, nutrition and emotional well-being is an overlooked aspect of mental health. It is essential to share the current research and make the necessary mental health psychology nuances.

Additionally, accurately citing sources to remove the barrier between academic language and consumer understanding is also crucial.

For that, we have the pages that you will find with the search function for research and research.

But any technique can be harmful and dangerous to people with unresolved trauma.

A particular technique can also be harmful to people who do not have sufficient support. Trusted friends are so important. That is why you can always send us a PM, a personal message to which we will answer as soon as possible.

Someone you can talk to, who is listened to, such as the helplines, are indispensable to use if you are in “emergency”.

We know that if you start to mine your past that has seen severe abuse, confrontation can lead to symptoms of depression.

If you are frightened by this when reading which article (on our website or with others), consult your regular health care provider.

If you think you’re headed for depression, it’s imperative to see your doctor or mental health professional.

We know that even spiritual practices can arouse such symptoms. Fasting, for example, is certainly not suitable for everyone.

Therefore, we should warn you that the same symptoms can lead to self-destructive behaviour or suicide without the right resources.

Since not everything is based on scientific sources, I encourage you to pursue mental health sources. We certainly don’t need to minimize mental health treatments and examinations.

Yet here, too, these warnings apply to everyone who works in healthcare. The research is not universal, culturally related or too small to draw any conclusions. The therapist’s beliefs also play a role and are not always based on facts.

When you publish online and moderate a private group to support people for their trauma, you have responsibilities.

But it is complex and new. In any case, I intend to operate ethically on social media.

As mental health professionals, we consider and protect the most vulnerable populations we serve. We are clear about the differences between mental health education and our personal beliefs or experiences.

Well-considered decisions to make mental health psychology nuances!

We have full transparency about our techniques. I hope that our approaches and guiding individuals to make informed decisions about their mental health care are also fully transparent.

People who want to consider applying a technique can always contact us by email, messenger or text message. It is recommended to send a friend request to us on Facebook or Instagram if it is safe for you too. You will find all these options on our menu.

We provide good resources and refer people to the care they need when we can’t offer it.

We, therefore, select who we allow in the private group to prevent certain people from misleading, triggering or using our platform to offer their own beliefs via PM without a disclaimer.

If we don’t think people qualify for self-healing and don’t make an urgent request for help, they don’t qualify for our private group. They will, of course, get an answer if they email us.

What is unique about mental health professionals speaking on social media platforms is that we cannot know in detail who is consuming our content. That is why we must be incredibly attentive and careful with our language. How we present information can be harmful to those, who listen.

For most people online, there is a tendency to promote a version of ourselves that is not entirely authentic.

There is an ongoing conversation for mental health professionals about “professionalism” regarding what we share on social media. In Belgium, some psychologists are even called to account by the order.

How we ‘reveal ourselves’ can be threatening to others. Some feel that sharing something personal can hurt the value or credibility of our posts. Others precisely positioned themselves as vulnerable people towards the so-called expert, reducing the requesting party’s dependency.

However, many of us are more humanistic and believe in appearing more fully and authentically. Social media allows us to either falsify our credibility with the “perfection” of our healing journeys or share vulnerability with others.

The misconception is that mental health professionals are “cured.” But we are all just human. We make mistakes, and most of us are also actively working on our healing with or without a therapist.

Trauma is still being studied, researched, which is why there are many misconceptions about it.

In general, many people think that if something terrible happens to them, that causes persistent pain. That is why they are too quick to believe that they are traumatized.

In reality, the single or multiple experiences that may be considered traumatic for one person may not be internalized as traumatic for another. Therefore, “trauma” is mainly personal.

The biggest misconception about trauma is that one must meet the criteria for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) to cope with the effects of trauma.

When people learn that any event can be traumatic, they misunderstand. I certainly don’t mean that all difficult experiences are traumatic. But working preventively on our mental health certainly does not hurt. Implementing an excellent mental health policy is also very important.

I want the importance of mental health psychology nuances to be mainstream, accessible and easy.

However, many terms such as codependency, trauma, triggers, dissociation, etc., used in mental health are all incredibly nuanced. Healing is never a linear or ‘easy’ journey.

Without proper psychoeducation, these terms can become harmful, labelling, or far too general. It is up to professionals in the field to take special care to use these terms correctly. I am happy to inform the public about this. You can obtain information about all terms using the search function.
